Andy Casey - Wedding Photographer

We spent a very creative two days recently with Andy Casey who is a local photographer.  We needed some new images for our website and new brochure and Andy kindly obliged.  We were fortunate with the weather ( hot, sunny and bright) and managed to get some great shots of the exterior of the hotel, the gardens and the beach.  It was hard, hot work and Andy must have lost a few pounds running up and down the steps to the beach and lugging all his gear up and down the hill - from where we took the exterior shots.  We tried to keep his spirits and energy up by supplying him with home made biscuits and warm scones, piled high with clotted cream and jam, throughout the day.  He also worked his way through a few of the props - eating the Crepe Suzette after we were finished photographing it.  It was such a great opportunity to have him for two days that we really did make sure we squeezed every ounce out of the poor fellow and by the end of it we were all exhausted but delighted with the results.  Actually, it was a lot of fun too.  He was lovely to have around and full of creative ideas.  We would definitely recommend Andy to anyone who was looking for a wedding photographer.  He can be contacted on 07792 864 370.

An Update from Woolacombe Bay

"April and May are the best months for keen walkers".  

Come and walk the SW Coastal Path and Exmoor.

After a long, quiet winter everyone in Woolacombe is looking forward to the warmer, sunnier months that lie ahead.  The restaurants and beach shops are now open daily in the village and whilst it is still lovely and quiet it is nice to see a few more people around.  The weather has been good, mostly dry and bright, although, today, the water is quite choppy and there are fewer surfers out than normal.

April and May are very popular months for keen walkers.  The weather can be mild, sunny days are common and Exmoor and the Coastal Path are ready and waiting to be explored.

Our team at the Watersmeet Hotel know the surrounding area very well and are able to suggest numerous local walks.  We can also provide a picnic lunch if quests are planning to stay out all day.

One of my favourite walks is a circular walk from Mortehoe, which takes in the rocky headland of Morte Point, the 'smuggler's village of Lee, part of the Tarka Trail and Bull Point Lighthouse.  It is a fascinating route and a great way to see some of the best local scenery.  It is approximately 6 1/2 miles in total - and we can always have a cream tea waiting for you on the terrace when you arrive back with sore feet at the end of day.

New Refurbishment at the Watersmeet Hotel

Here at the Watersmeet Hotel in Woolcombe we have spent the winter refurbishing the lounge, the bar area and some of the bedrooms.  We still wanted to retain the classical feel for which the Watersmeet Hotel is much loved but we wanted to bring it up to date and add a fresher, more coastal, feel to it.  Below are some pictures of what we have done so far.  We've had many great comments so far from guests but are always keen for more feedback.  Visit the Watersmeet Hotel website if you would like to learn more:
